WINNERS OVERALL 2013!!!!
This coming Friday sees a landmark date for a much-loved Middlesbrough venue as it celebrates it’s 20th birthday. Reaching this milestone is a fantastic accomplishment for the venue, which has been a central social hub for the people of Middlesbrough for two decades.
The Dickens Inn on Southfield Road is steeped in heritage and has been a favourite for locals, students, sports fans and players alike since its modest beginnings back in 1993.
Owner Tony Spensley says “As an independent family-run venue we are proud to reach this exciting landmark and see it as a success for both ourselves and the town. Hearing stories of regulars who first met at the bar back in the early years, who are still married and now their children are regulars are tales that humble us to the very core and make all the hard work feel worthwhile.”
When the venue first opened it was only a fraction of its current size. Adding a function room, coffee shop, cocktail bar, outdoor terrace and the exclusive Dickens2 it is now stronger than ever and has a famous reputation worldwide. By offering something for everybody, it’s no surprise the doors see thousands of people pass through every single week.
The festivities begin at 7pm this Friday across all areas, with legendary guest DJs accompanied by saxophonist & funky guitar, X-Factor’s Jamie Tinkler in the Gold Room as well as fire eaters, champagne fountain, canapes and the launch of a brand new cocktail menu.
Tony adds “We would like to take this opportunity to thank our very loyal customers past and present and hope they can join us for what will be the party of the year. Here’s to the next twenty years!”
